Air India Express Flight Makes Safe Emergency Landing in Kochi After Technical Glitch
An Air India Express aircraft operating from Jeddah to Kozhikode was forced to make an emergency landing at Kochi’s Cochin International Airport on Thursday after a technical problem involving its right main landing gear and tyres. The flight, IX 398, was carrying 160 passengers.
According to Cochin International Airport Limited (CIAL), the aircraft was diverted to Kochi as a precaution and touched down safely at 9:07 am with full emergency protocols in place. Airport authorities had activated all emergency services well in advance.
“No passengers or crew members were injured. A post-landing inspection revealed that both tyres on the right side had burst,” a CIAL spokesperson said.
After the necessary procedures were completed, the runway was promptly cleared and normal airport operations resumed.
