Bengaluru Gets Its First Gen Z–Focused Post Office With Wi-Fi and Selfie Zones
Bengaluru: India Post has launched Karnataka’s first Gen Z–themed post office at Acharya Institute of Technology, Bengaluru, in an effort to connect with younger users and modernise the traditional image of postal services.
Designed as both a service centre and a social space, the new post office allows students to access postal facilities while also spending time with friends in a relaxed environment. The initiative highlights India Post’s shift towards digital and youth-oriented engagement.
The facility features vibrant interiors, high-speed Wi-Fi, a dedicated selfie point, and décor conceptualised by students themselves, ensuring the space reflects the style and preferences of Generation Z.
At the inauguration, Karnataka Chief Postmaster General K Prakash said the postal department is adapting nationwide to changing consumer habits and evolving business models. He noted that under the leadership of Union Communications Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia, India Post is undergoing a major transformation to stay relevant in the digital era.
Prakash explained that the organisation has moved beyond traditional services like letters and money orders to focus on digital banking, logistics, and e-commerce solutions. He added that students represent the future of innovation and economic growth, making campuses an ideal setting for showcasing this transformation.
The Gen Z Post Office also includes a reading corner, café-style seating, wellness facilities, and spaces for physical activity, making it more than a conventional postal outlet. According to officials, the concept is intended to serve as a community hub and is expected to be expanded to other educational institutions across the country.
