New Delhi: A political controversy has erupted in the national capital after Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MLA Gopal Rai strongly criticised the ongoing demolition drive being carried out by municipal authorities across several areas of Delhi. Big News Network+1

During an interaction with news agency ANI, Mr. Rai alleged that the demolition activities, which began early Wednesday morning following a court order, reflect a larger campaign allegedly orchestrated by the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) government to displace residents and leave them without shelter. @mathrubhumi

“Since the BJP government came to power, it’s not just about one place. Still, this government is carrying out the demolition of encroachments and people’s homes across Delhi… A campaign is underway to make people homeless throughout Delhi,” Rai said. @mathrubhumi

Demolition Drive and Government Response
The demolition drive undertaken on January 7 took place in encroached areas including Faiz-e-Elahi Masjid, Turkman Gate, and Ramlila Maidan, following directives from the Delhi High Court to remove illegal structures and clear public land. Big News Network
